We have been bombarded with the idea of the “political correctness” of everything you say or do in this society. Any sincere and true Christian will agree with me that there has been a constant calculated and deliberate effort to neuter Christmas. You and I now live in a society that breeds an army of agnostics, atheists, secularist and lukewarm Christians. Sadly, these groups are commanding lots of influence all over the place as they are planted in some quarters of Government and in our Schools and other institutions of learning.
The cultural secularism is not only sweeping away the core foundation of family values, it has become a serious threat to religious beliefs. A situation that led Archbishop Charles Chaput of Philadelphia to say, “Lukewarm Christianity is simply a convenient form of paganism.” We now live in a society where God is irrelevant and everything is permissible.
In Marshfield, Massachusetts, the school committee decided it would not listen to its constituency: it voted 3-2 against changing “Holiday Break” back to “Christmas Break.” Though hundreds protested, the elites said that the phrase “Christmas Break” was too “archaic” for the 21st century.
There is no effect without a cause. The logic here is a simple one: we have this holiday or holiday break as it is called because of what? What necessitated the so called holiday? Who/what is the reason for the season? Common sense demands that if we are having this “Holiday” because there is “Christmas” then it is not only pertinent but just to call it “Christmas Break “ and then wish ourselves “Happy Christmas” or “Merry Christmas.”
I would like to remind us that we carry in us a kind of moral intuition that enables us to recognize what is right and what is wrong. We intuitively know, or at least we are capable of knowing, when we do evil and when our fellow men do it, whether this evil is defined as a crime in penal legislation or a repudiation of moral values and religious obligation. There comes a time in everyone’s life when you have to face the truth about Things.
Epistemologically, what is true is true and what is not true is not true. In other words, your personal opinion or feelings about the truth cannot change the truth. So, the truth about truth is that it can only be denied but can never be negated. And today’s society with its relative relativism is entangled in its own snare in an effort redefine everything. There is a deliberate effort to take from Jesus what belongs to Jesus. We want to rename and redefine everything. Well, Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.
I have noticed that some people say Happy Holiday just because everybody around them is saying happy holiday. Dear friends, the birth of Jesus Christ is the reason for Christmas, and Christmas is the reason for the holiday or break, therefore, it is only appropriate to call it “Christmas Break.” And the greeting should be “Happy Christmas” or “Merry Christmas.”
